Learn how we increased content engagement by 36% and made 98% patients more smoking aware through an innovative video animation campaign.

Challenge

The Cure Project is a joint initiative between NHS England and the Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership, funded by Pfizer. They were tasked with reducing smoking rates by a third by 2020, across Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. The project’s clinical lead came to us to create a campaign to help achieve this goal. The campaign needed to educate on the effects of smoking and help patients make informed choices about smoking cessation support and treatment.

Approach

For a health education campaign on smoking to be successful, we knew it needed to strike the right tone. Content needed to be balanced, informative, motivational and empowering. We created a series of medical animations that brought the anatomy and physiology to life. Visual effects and concise text clearly conveyed smoking facts. The tone, pace and soundtrack was carefully considered, in order to resonate with the target audience and drive action.

Results

We delivered a well-branded, impactful video campaign that offered a fresh take on a notoriously challenging area of health education. Our content resonated, achieving a 36% increase in engagement. And an impressive 98% of patients had a better understanding of the key messages as a result of watching the videos. The target audience became more aware of the effects of smoking and better equipped to make smart choices around smoking cessation.
