Dr David Sewell is Head of Digital at One Vision Health, where he leads digital strategy, analytics and audience engagement across a portfolio of healthcare brands.
With more than 20 years’ experience in digital strategy, he works with pharmaceutical companies, healthcare organisations and specialist clinicians to improve how complex medical information is communicated and discovered online. His work focuses on understanding how healthcare professionals and patients search for information, and structuring digital content so that it is both discoverable and clinically responsible.
David has worked with organisations including The Royal Marsden, NHS trusts through the Good Thinking mental health programme, and pharmaceutical companies including AstraZeneca and Bristol Myers Squibb on the pan-European launch of Onglyza. He has also supported organisations such as Superdrug, Urgo Medical, Coloplast Professional and Pulmonx in strengthening digital engagement with healthcare professionals and patient communities.
Published Work, Research or Mentions
David developed the Search Intent framework, a model for understanding how audiences search for and engage with complex information online. The approach has been widely adopted in digital content strategy.
He has spoken at conferences including BrightonSEO, MeasureFest and Madgex, and contributed to Econsultancy’s Guide to Search Intent Marketing.
His doctoral research at the University of Leicester focused on computational modelling of the auditory system and resulted in the thesis:

David began his career as a software engineer developing large-scale data processing systems before moving into digital strategy and healthcare communication.
Over the past two decades he has worked with pharmaceutical companies, healthcare providers and specialist clinicians to improve how medical information is communicated and discovered online. His work includes developing digital strategies for healthcare organisations, designing search-driven information architectures for complex health topics, building analytics frameworks to understand audience behaviour, and facilitating workshops that bring together clinical, marketing and digital teams.
