Youtube reaches over a billion monthly users. It’s now the second largest search engine with over 300 hours of video uploaded every day.
The stats speak for themselves but in such a large space, you have to work hard to get heard.
If you’re struggling for video views and finding conversion rates are poor using Youtube, you’re not alone.
Over a third of Youtube videos have fewer than 10 views and click through rates from Youtube to websites are typically poor. Essentially people are on Youtube to learn something and have fun, they aren’t looking to buy something or to do business and unless your video goes viral, it’s unlikely your efforts will bring you new patients.
But that doesn’t mean video isn’t great, it just means you’re going to have to think differently about how and where it is used.
A simple alternative is to use a self-hosted platform to embed your videos on your own website.
There are two key benefits to doing this:
1. You’ll improve your search ranking and increase traffic to your site.
Useful video content that answers queries are given priority in Google’s search engine results page meaning that your website is more likely to appear on page 1 of Google. An example of this are the “How To” videos commonly found on page 1 of Google.
2. You’ll increase conversion rates
Providing useful health information directly to your patients on your own website will ensure they stay on your site for longer, making it easier for them to make an enquiry or book an appointment with you.
In our next blog, we will dig deeper into Video SEO and look at the benefits of having videos directly on your website rather than on Youtube.
What does SEO mean? It’s a vague term that refers to the methods used to get your content seen, and rank higher on search engines.
Answerpack is a fully customisable video channel for your website that helps you rank your videos on Google and drive traffic to your website.
